Treatments

Initial Appointment
The initial consultation will last approximately an hour and involve a thorough assessment looking at your strength and tone, movement, balance, co-ordination, walking and functional activities, and the reasons for which you are starting physiotherapy. This will be followed by an effective treatment specifically addressed to your problem. This initial appointment will be completed with the drawing of a plan for future treatment that you will discuss with your physiotherapist.

Follow up Appointments
These appointments will include treatments helping you return to work, sport, or any other daily activities you may be limited with as a consequence of your injury, pain or medical/neurological condition. Standard follow-up sessions with Barnet Physiotherapy Clinic are of 45 minutes duration as we believe that this is the optimal timing for most patients, but 1 hour sessions are available on request.

What is Physiotherapy?
Physiotherapy is a health care service dedicated to assessing, restoring and/or maintaining optimal physical function.

Physiotherapists diagnose and treat patients of all ages, from infants to senior citizens, who suffer from health problems, disorders or injuries that may limit their ability to work, move, or perform normal functional activities.

Physiotherapists are mainly concerned with the rehabilitation of physical impairments and disabilities and in promoting increased mobility, functional ability and a better quality of life.

It is also the goal of a physiotherapist to work with individuals who are at risk of loss of mobility to prevent it before it occurs, by developing a treatment plan for healthier and more active lifestyles.

The process begins with a thorough initial assessment. The Physiotherapist will take a thorough health history of a patient and complete a physical examination to arrive at a diagnosis and establish a treatment plan. A Physiotherapists treatment plan usually includes prescription of exercises as well assisting with specific exercises, manual therapy, postural education and physical manipulation.
